ome and learn the ancient art of reflexology. Hand reflexology is the practice of massaging, squeezing, or pushing on parts of hands with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body or to improve general health. The idea is that there is specific pressure points, and energy centers located on the palm and backs of your hands and when these areas are massaged appropriately, different organs and functions of the body are affected. This is a beneficial class for massage therapists and newcomers to the field of bodywork. 

Course Objectives:  By the end of the course, we will cover the following things:
  1. The definition of Reflexology and Reflexes.
  2. Theories of how the Principles of Reflexology work.
  3. Contraindications for Reflexology.
  4. Past and modern History of Reflexology.
  5. Guidelines for Reflexology.
  6. Vertical and Horizontal Zone Theories.
  7. Review of multiple Hand reflexology Charts/Maps.
  8. Anatomy of the hand.
  9. The reflexology thumb-walk technique.
  10. Practical sequence demonstrated by instructor, then practiced by students.
Course Prerequisites:  none
 
Textbook / Instructional Materials:  All reference material (handouts) will be supplied by the instructor.  Please bring a towel to class.
