Patterns of dysfunction like sciatica, knee and ankle injuries are often caused by postural distortion in the lower torso and extremities specifically the lumbar spine, hip, knee, ankle and foot. Using rebalancing techniques like myofascial release, PIR/RI and DTF students will learn how to treat these areas of pain to obtain the most effective and fastest results. Stretching suggestions will also be included.

Course Objectives:  Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Build on the information covered in the Postural and Palpation Assessment classes;
  • Identify, and address during massage, elements relating to function and dysfunction of posture;
  • Treating Compensation and Dysfunction.
Course Prerequisites:  100 hour Basic Swedish Massage Techniques, Palpation Assessment Skills for Massage, and Postural Analysis & Assessment.
 
Required Reading / Instructional Materials:  Handouts and product will be provided to you.  Please wear comfortable massage working clothes but also bring a bathing suit or work-out attire that is conformed to the body to complete postural analysis of this area.  Also bring massage setup (flat and fitted twin sheet, pillow case, 6 hand towels and hand/foot sanitizer) and a bottle of drinking water.
