The pre-event sports massage is a stimulating superficial, fast-paced, rhythmic massage that typically lasts 10-15 minutes. The emphasis is warming the muscles used in the particular sporting event, and the goal is to help the athlete feel that his or her body is perfectly ready physically. However there are some critical techniques that should be avoided for pre-event. Recovery or post-event sports massage focuses primarily on athletes who want to recover from a strenuous workout or competition. They can be given as a short on-site relaxing or remedial massage, or as a full-body rehabilitative style to speed healing and recovery from the sporting event.
During this class, we will be completing a pre-event and post-event “routine” massage that can be adapted for specific sporting events. Please bring massage linen, bottle of water and dress in workout / comfortable attire.
Prerequisite: 100 hour Basic Swedish Massage Techniques course.
