In this Classical Yoga class, we will work with both flowing and held postures that will open and cleanse your body, strengthen, tone and lengthen your muscles, and calm, soothe, and open your mind. You will burn calories as well as increase overall flexibility and fitness. Working with the body and mind and breath together, this class will leave you with a sense of peace, accomplishment and empowerment. Open to all people with a reasonable basic fitness level. Please bring a yoga mat to class.

Meditation is a state of being where the mind becomes still and awareness is heightened and internalized. You will learn to meditate in a supportive group environment with techniques that are simple, yet have deep potential. You will also learn simple breathing techniques that increase your energy and promote calmness. Easy to follow instructions will be given each week so you can continue at home if you wish. Through lecture, demonstration, and the practice of the Tai Chi movements, students will experience the benefits of this ancient Chinese exercise and martial art, such as reduced stress, improved balance, and increased muscle tone. Chinese Chi Kung (Breath Work) will also be taught as a calming exercise to be done as a prelude to Tai Chi practice. Class may be repeated. This course introduces students to a Chinese health exercise which is neither vigorous nor strenuous. It is suitable for anyone who wants to exercise to gain or maintain good health. It will strengthen the muscles and organs, relax the mind and body, improve blood circulation, and increase memory and concentration.
