Cerritos College’s Summer Career Exploration is focused on providing local youth opportunities to explore and experience potential future careers. Each career track is one week in length. Students may sign up for one or several career tracks.
 
 
Calling all future engineers! Do you like to build things? Would you like to compete against others to determine who has the best design? Then this class is for you. Come sign up and build such things as bridges, catapults, hot air balloons and water rockets. You will then put your design to the test and see if you are the top engineer.

Students will learn to create and build LEGO robotics utilizing machine-tools and engineering design software. Students will also use software to program their robots and compete against other students in the class. Students work in teams of 3-4 and learn valuable skills such as how to creatively team with other students in addition to practical skills in Manufacturing Technology, mathematics and engineering.

Does your son or daughter love computers and electronics? Perhaps considering a job someday in the fields of engineering, computer science or manufacturing technology? This might just be the class for them to foster those interests! Students will learn to create and build robotics utilizing LEGO units, machine-tools and engineering design software. The robots will be built in class and the robots/tools provided are for use in class only (does not leave the college). They will learn how to use software to program their robots to accomplish several tasks, next they will compete against other students in the class. Students work in teams of 2-3, learning how to work creatively within a group, as well as increasing their skills in mathematics, technology and engineering.

You will learn how to use basic electronics to design and program a "Boebot" to find its way through mazes and other challenges. Working in teams, students construct a working robot, write computer programs to control the robot, and work with advanced electronic circuits to solve navigation and science problems.
